Jesus is still Active and Present.

Jesus is still active and present!

Do you ever feel that you just can’t understand what God is doing? Why does He just not do something now?

When I’m out prayer walking, I often pray that God would step into the whole area, open people’s blind eyes to His presence, heal the broken, fill the all churches and that all people would be saved. I always ask God for his plan for that to happen. One day whilst praying passionately asking for God’s plan as usual He simply said “I just want you to be available by drawing close to me.”  It was not the answer I was looking for. But, but what about…. I protested, but realized that His way was a better way as it was His! I just needed to do what I was certain of and focus on that until told otherwise.

God said in Isaiah 55 v 8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

In our bible passage today the disciples were told they wouldn’t know all the specifics and detailed dates of God’s plan for the FUTURE They hoped that Jesus would fix   everything NOW or at the latest SOON, but that was not what Jesus had in mind, but they were told what they could know and do with certainty NOW .

Firstly, they were told they would be empowered by the Holy Spirit, secondly that they were to be witness and to go into the whole world. Finally, In Matthews Gospel they are also told that Jesus said He would be present with them  ALWAYS.

None of us can know with any certainty what lies ahead in the future either  personally or for the world we live in. But we can be certain that, Jesus will always be with us, we can be certain He will continue to empower us by his   Holy Spirit to be witnesses of who He is,  what he has done for us in dying and rising again, His greatness and how He can change lives and bring hope to others.

God’s word encourages us to simply draw near to God and He will draw near to us. So, let’s stop worrying about the future and trying to figure everything out. Our task is to simply stay close to Jesus, to know and to trust that the promises of His presence and power at work in us and through us are good and will continue. To trust He will show us what we need to do now and to get on with it.
