“Aeneas,” Peter said to him, “Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and roll up your mat.” Immediately Aeneas got up. 35 All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.
We sing a lot in church about Jesus being a healer, a miracle worker and of course, that is who Jesus is, as well as the King of Kings, the Saviour of the World and 100’s of other names and titles. One of the songs we sing opens up a truth about Jesus we need to grasp that is He is the way maker, the miracle worker is at work to make a way for His kingdom to come and His will to be done both in our lives and the world around us.
Many people only understand a miracle as a dramatic physical healing, which is an extraordinary event that is not explained by natural or scientific laws and is therefore attributed to a supernatural cause. We see miracles in the bible of healing, provision, changes in circumstances, dramatic rescues, people raised from the dead, food multiplied and demons being cast out of people, these happen in a many different extraordinary ways so we don’t try to control or put them into a formula of how things should work.
The bottom line. Jesus is the One who is the Miracle Worker. They happen when he chooses, not when we demand. He will use people and other means, they are always in His timing not ours, and why? Because He gets the glory and they usually will be a means of advancing in His kingdom.
Do miracles happen today? Well Jesus is the same today yesterday and forever, anything He does outside of our means, answers to prayer, circumstances that change, lives that change, provisions that come for needs, people you meet just at the right time, and yes healing in the body according to His will are miracles. But the most important healing is of your heart, as to be healed physically and not spiritually is like sticking a plaster on an infected wound and expecting to heal on its own, we need the miracle of new life, and sins forgiven more than anything else as that lasts forever. As we look today into the stories in Acts 9, we’ll see that the miracles blessed the person, but they made a way for the Gospel to advance into many other people’s lives. That’s because Jesus is the Way maker, Miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness, that is who you are, MY GOD.
Acts 9 31v 43
Impossible situations can become possible miracles.
