LIGHT

1 John 1: 5-7 'This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in darkness, we lie and do not do what is true; but if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin'.

I invariably feel sad putting away the Christmas decorations particularly the lights, although it is a relief to take down those in our cedar tree without falling from a branch in the process! The many lights we see on so many houses during the Christmas season bring much needed cheer during these dark months. Now they are gone but we have the consolation of slowly lengthening days as Spring approaches and we are fortunate to have light at the press of switch (remembering that about 650 million people are projected to be still without electricity in 2030).

But not all darkness is banished so easily and the passage from John's letter reminds us of Light that needs no electricity and is always available even during these dark days of lockdown.

Prayer

Thank you again Lord for providing us with physical and spiritual light, remembering this helps us to face the darkest days. Amen
