Jesus who brought the greatest message, that Jesus came to save us and die for us that we may receive eternal life. We were encouraged to recognise the Messiah and to look out for his return.

Additionally, we pondered the thought of how we could be sure that Jesus was the chosen one? Looking at a few of the 150 prophecies from the Bible documented in the old testament which Jesus fulfilled, such as Jesus would be a descendant of David, would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2), born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:13-14), riding into Jerusalem on a donkey (Zechariah 9:9), his side pierced (Zechariah 12:10), rising from the dead (Psalm 16:10-11), ascending to heaven and sitting at God's right hand (Psalm 68:18). What are the Odds of that? We learnt that the odds of 1 person fulfilling 8 prophecies would be one in 'a hundred quadrillion' !! and Jesus fulfilled more than 48 prophesies. '

It seems to me that the people in the old testament were unaware exactly how history would play out whilst awaiting the coming of Jesus - but they had the prophets and hope – not unlike us I guess, as we see changes today and with uncertainties within our world we may feel unaware of how things will exactly play out but we have a firm hope that The Lord is totally in control, and is faithful to keep us and show us step by step. We need not fear!

The zoom evening was summed up to me by the words of one of the young people who said ' the bit of the video I liked was that Jesus was born into the mess, to save us from the mess….. and that's what the world needs as it is in such a mess.'
