PSALM 103 : 1-5
Celebrating birthdays and anniversaries during lock-down is different. It requires an alternative mindset with ways to link with families and friends. Many of us have had to change plans and arrangements to fit in with the restrictions placed upon us.
This week we celebrate our 1st Anniversary of Renew Wellbeing at Mansfield.
A year ago a group of us, having completed our training, started our new venture with the blessing of the church with much prayer and apprehension but confident in God’s leading and strength for the task. We have had support from the wider family of Renew Wellbeing and from our local link with Mental Health Co-production team in Mansfield.
We are just one of a growing number of Renew Wellbeing groups attached to churches across the UK. We seek to be present, in partnership and to be prayerful as we address the issues surrounding our mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing. We provide a quiet space where ‘It’s Ok not to be OK’. People can join in various activities, chat or spend time in quiet to read, reflect and pray. The rhythm of prayer is an important part of our Thursdays with 15 minutes before we start, 15 minutes at midday and 15 minutes at the end. During the lock-down the team meets for virtual prayer at 11 am each Thursday.
Psalm 103:1-5 is used at the beginning of the day:
Bless the Lord o my soul and all that is within me bless his holy name.
Bless the Lord o my soul and forget not all his benefits
He forgives all our sins
He heals all our diseases
He redeems our lives from the pit
He crowns us with love and compassion
Praise. Thanksgiving. Forgiveness. Healing. Wholeness.
Crown of love and compassion.
