JOHN : 18 v 37-38
‘What is truth’?’ In John 18 v 38 Pilate asks this, possibly, rhetorical question. It seems that he did not wait for or perhaps expect an answer.
Today we are faced by a similar question, despite unprecedented access to information we still struggle to discern truth. Politicians seem more interested in giving us their ‘version‘ of truth than addressing the problems that we all face. How often are we ourselves guilty of only seeking information that fits our view of ‘truth’?
The answer lies in the preceding verse ‘Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a King. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice’.
Loving God, may we be honest and recognise our own prejudices and only look to You for truth. In the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen
