Lighthouse Mansfield is now in its fifth year and has grown each year bringing together volunteers from churches, schools and the community to provide children aged 5-11 a week of holiday activities, running from 10am through 3.30pm for a week. Lighthouse serves this community to bring the GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST in an age appropriate and clear way, and to provide the best activities and care that witnesses to God’s love to the families that come. Please do pray for this outreach during the coming week.
Lighthouse Mansfield is one of 10 lighthouses in the UK and was the first one to be started outside of the High Wycombe area. In fact, we paved the way for a new vision for 200 lighthouses to be started across the UK, with Lighthouse Central appointing a director to help new lighthouses to start. It was announced last week that Lighthouse central who support all the Lighthouses are being supported by Gary and Catherine Grant as patrons, who run the Entertainer Toy Shop Chain, both of whom are well known for their active Christian faith and how they run their business i.e. by not opening on Sundays and tithing their profits.
We have over 300 children registered to come this year, with 160 volunteers from all shapes and sizes of Churches and across all ages the oldest is 88 and the youngest is 11. Many of the volunteers have been with us for 5 years now and always comment on how much the Lord blesses this time. They see God at work and the depth of love He shows to the community. This experience is so visible on site. The body of Christ in action!
Come and join us to this Sunday Evening, 28th July at 6pm as we gather from across Mansfield, to worship Jesus with one voice, and one heart together and commission and pray for our volunteers.
