Never Underestimate the Power of a Seed

Tuesday 31 March 2020

"But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance”.

Luke 8 v 15

If you want to see a miracle? Try this. Take a seed the size of a freckle. Put it under several inches of dirt. Give it enough water, light, and fertilizer and get ready. A mountain will be moved. It doesn’t matter that the ground is a zillion times the weight of the seed. The seed will push it back. Every spring, dreamers around the world plant tiny hopes in overturned soil. And every spring, their hopes press against impossible odds and blossom.
As we celebrate harvest and give God thanks today for all of his goodness, we stop for a moment and marvel at the incredible ingenuity of God’s design in His creation, which we see in the tiny seeds that produce a harvest, but more than just food, we see something of God Himself. The bible says. “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made” Romans 1 v 18
Jesus used illustrations about sowing, growing and reaping often to explain His work in the lives of people. Today we will look at the parable of the sower where Jesus tells us that his word is like the seed of a plant, it is living and has tremendous power to move the mountains of life. When it takes root in a fertile heart, just one small seed of it has enormous potential to multiply, into much more, 30, 60 or even 100 times more and produce a harvest of righteousness. We all have a that seed of God’s word given to us but how fertile is the soil of your heart? Is the seed of God’s word producing a harvest in you of God’s righteousness?
Never underestimate the power of a seed.
