25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Today we celebrate Pentecost, God sending His Holy Spirit upon the first Christians and the birth of the Church. Lifting them from a group of bewildered, fragile and fearful people to become bold witnesses empowered to start a Global movement that has touched millions upon millions, upon millions of people in every corner of the world in every generation. Birthed through the proclaiming of the good news of Jesus and seen in action by many signs and wonders the church has continued to grow ever since that day.
The events of Pentecost can seem light years away from our time and the world we live in, but Jesus said He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Jesus is still touching millions of lives in the same way across the world, His work to reconcile the world to Himself is continuing on a global scale and yet at the same time His personal interest in our individual journey of faith, living in the Spirit is of great interest to Him.
When we have repented of our sins and accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we are made into a new creation being born again through the Holy Spirit, and we begin a life long upward journey, growing and living more in the Spirit, becoming more like Jesus as we try to keep in step with Him.
We do falter in those steps as we go, so today we remind ourselves God’s work is not finished in us yet, we have so much more to know, to experience and do in Him. The Lord has new heights to reveal in us, He desires to draw us up further into Him seeing new things about Him for us to delight in him more, and, He has new ways for us to continue serving him filled with his love and His power.

The Spirit-filled life is not a special, deluxe edition of Christianity. It is part and parcel of the total plan of God for His people.
