God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
We often take for granted the love we have received from others, so Mother’s Day and other days like it are a good reminder to be thankful for the love we share and receive from those around us.
A Mothers love is special expression of love. The bible is clear that Love comes from God and God Himself is love and we see expressions of His love in all of our relationships.
One of the expressions I have seen as I have watched Janes’ love for our children, is, it’s a love that has to look hard to find wrongs and even harder to hold onto them. I’m sure you know the saying that “Love is blind” and when it came to our boys it seemed to me as our children were growing up, and even now as young adults they could do no wrong in Janes’ eyes, even when they were teenagers!
This kind of love reveals an aspect of God’s love, GOD LOVES IMPERFECT PEOPLE. We know that no one is perfect apart from Jesus who died for the whole world so God must love imperfect people in fact even when we were still sinners Christ died for us, and amazing love that shows God’s love for you is bigger than your mistakes or failures. I sometimes struggle to believe this truth, especially when I have failed or made mistakes, but God has always shown me its true.
How can we respond to this amazing Love of God?
Firstly: in Thankfulness to God for His amazing Grace (God’s undeserved love and favour) that He pours out on us, and the way he doesn’t ignore our wrongs, but has dealt with him at the Cross, and pours his Love into hearts through the Holy Spirt. God is always calling us deeper into new experiences of the vastness of His love.
Secondly: We know all our relationships, Family, friendships, work, church are with Imperfect people just as we are all flawed, and a work in progress. “Jesus gave us a command to love others for good reason as it can be hard at times. It involves forgiveness, bearing with one another’s imperfections and is the way that God’s loves grows in each one us to be complete as it says in 1 John 4 v12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”
