The cord that binds us as different personalities is LOVE. To love God, to love others and to love ourselves.
Are we entering November already? How time flies! This weekend there are three topics that call for my attention:
In our service this morning we continue to look at the ways God blesses us with gifts to help us as individuals and as a church to serve him and be his witnesses. The cord that binds us as different personalities is LOVE. To love God, to love others and to love ourselves. (1 Corinthians 12:1 -13:3)
What an inspiration to remember on All Saints Day, 1st November, that we belong to a vast multitude of Christians who have gone before us, and those throughout the world today, that we are members of God’s wonderful family. “For all the saints who from their labours rest, who Thee by faith before the world confessed, Thy name O Jesu, be forever blest. Alleluia!”. And today on Hallowe’en we can celebrate that, not in darkness, but in Light!
Thirdly, we are reminded, as citizens of the world, of our responsibility to care for God’s creation – and this not just for our own sakes but especially for the generations yet to come. Our children and grandchildren and those who come after them. Please pray for global leaders as they attend the 26th Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow from 31 October to 12 November.
The Lord hears our prayers. Thanks be to God.
Derek.
