The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my Song I praise him.

Psalm 28:7

The Bible is full of verses and stories where we are encouraged to trust God. The reality of the words are only experienced when we find ourselves in situations that we don’t understand, or that are difficult and do not work how we want, or expect them to work out.
I have met people this week with no hope, struggling to see any point in carrying on, where the idea of trusting God is a million miles away. But I’ve also been around a lot of people this week who are having to do just that, I’ve heard their prayers that say, “I don’t like where I am, I don’t understand why, but Jesus I know your love for me is just the same and I continue to trust in you.” Where are you in your trust this week? It’s not easy.
God wants us to trust Him and put all of our circumstances in His hands, as we believe that He is working them out for good even if we cannot see or feel it. Paul, writing to the Romans wrote “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” A great encouraging promise, and one day we will fully understand, but in the mean time we have to continue to trust and have faith that God knows what He is doing in any given circumstance,
in the reality of your everyday life. The bible is a full treasure store of the promises of God that we can put our trust and faith in, the lid of the promise treasure box is wide open, why not grab one and let its sparkle and illuminate your way.
Our Bible Reading this morning is about Naaman. A Syrian generally sick with Leprosy, who, has a lot to teach us about having a simple trust in God beyond our understanding.

There is an antidote to our fears - trust. If we trust God more, we can fear less. What a comforting promise."
